VIII Annual Conference from the series of Leontief Readings "Economics and Law" 

On February 27-28, 2009 in St Petersburg (Hotel Ambassador Conference Hall) the VIII Annual Conference from the series of Leontief Readings "Economics and Law" was held.

The Conference Programme included following parallel section meetings: “Economics, Law, and Transformation of the Russian Society”, “Economic Analysis of Law and Criminal Conduct”, “Economy Legal and Illegal”. In the framework of the plenary sessions a wide range of issues was discussed, from the role of law in social-economic transformation of Russia to economic approach to legal norms interpretation and to defining legal and illegal constituents of modern economic systems.

The Conference was completed by the Ceremony of Rewarding Laureates 2008 with the International Leontief Medal “For Contribution to Economic Reforms”.

The following laureates are nominated in 2008:

  • Leszek Balcerowicz, Professor at the Warsaw School of Economics,
  • Jeffrey David Sachs, Director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University,
  • Vladimir Mau, Rector of the Academy of National Economy under the RF Government,
  • Dmitry Travin, Academic Supervisor of the Centre for Modernisation Studies of the European University at St.-Petersburg.
  • Alexander Granberg, Member of Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences; Chairman of the Council for the Study of Productive Resources (SOPS)
