IX Annual Conference from the series of Leontief Readings "Economy and Institutions" 

On February 12-13, 2010 in St. Petersburg (the Leontief Centre) the IX Annual Conference from the series of Leontief Readings "Economy and Institutions"  was held.

The Conference Programme «Economy and Institutions» in memory of Egor Timurovich Gaidar included 3 section meetings: “Institutional Changes in Russian Federation”, “Institutions and Development Problems”, “Institutional Analysis as Evolution and Expansion of Economics”. In the framework of the plenary sessions a wide range of issues was discussed, features of institutions, likely prospects for institutional change and institutional reforms in Russia, the role of institutions as obstacles and sources of development and modernization in the history and the modern world, problems and perspectives of institutional economics and its place and significance in economic thought. 

The Conference was completed by the Ceremony of Rewarding Laureates 2009 with the International Leontief Medal “For Contribution to Economic Reforms”, which took place on February 13 in Mikhailovsky Castle.

  • German Gref, Sberbank of the Russian Federation, President and Board Chairman
  • Natalia Zubarevich, Independent Institute for Social Policy, Regional Program Director; Moscow State University, Professor of the Department of Geography
  • Yaroslav Kuzminov, State University – Higher School of Economics, Rector
