XII Annual Conference from the series of Leontief Readings "Economic and Geography"

On February 15-16, 2013 in St Petersburg XII Annual Conference from the series of Leontief Readings "Economic and Geography" was held.

Conference programme was devoted to the problems associated with the factors of regional growth and development, causes of regional disparities, regional economic policies, institutions and instruments of territorial development - special zones, development corporations, regional development agencies, etc., international trade, customs union, economic integration and cross-border cooperation, new economic geography and facility location, agglomeration effects, problems in the development of modern cities.

On February 16, 2013 in the Mikhailovsky Castle VII Award Ceremony of International Leontief Medal Laureates 2012 for Contribution to Economic Reforms took place.

Leontief Medal laureates 2012:

  • Erik Berglöf, Chief Economist and Special Adviser to the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)
  • Revold Entov, Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of the Theory of Money and Credit, National Research University Higher School of Economics
